Losing
April 22nd, 2009
I apologize to those who visit this site and have been pertrubed or disappointed that nothing new was posted.
For the past 3 weeks we have been making the trip back and forth from Iowa to North Carolina when my mother-in-law’s health declined. She struggled courageously for 2 weeks but succumbed and passed away on Palm Sunday. Later in the week she was honored at the visitation and funeral. I was offered the priviledge of speaking her eulogy.
Despite all the mother-in-law jokes, I dearly loved mine! She had only finished the 8th grade but had the wisdom that comes from knowledge and living life. She knew she didn’t know everything, but she would share what she had learned from growing up dirt poor at the start of the depression and raising 9 tremendous children. One of those 9, I married and he is my husband to this day.
Always when we would visit, I would thank her for the wonderful gift she gave me–it was not monetary or expensive, or even concrete. She gave me the gift of her son.
I miss her to this day and will honor her by caring for and loving her son as she would have done.
I promise to get back to posting new articles soon, but I will never forget Julie and will keep her alive with fond memories.
